HOW A SHEET BECAME A WEDDING DRESS
WORDS BY RINNE ALLEN, PHOTOS BY RINNE ALLEN & REBECCA WOOD
two r.wooders just married- kristen & josh had a country wedding full of handmade
things from friends and family. one thing that we were all particularly proud of
was kristen's dress. rebecca had found an old sheet in a stack of vintage
linens in a farmhouse a few months ago. it had layers of stitching from old patches
and darning that looked almost decorative.

they reminded us of kristen's sewing
techniques of sewing together layers to make things. next thing we knew, it was
becoming her wedding dress. cut and sewn in rebecca's new studio behind the
ceramics studio, it was made during the hottest week of the year, in late may...
we all sat and stitched, making fabric flowers for the yoke, or helping to pull it
together, although rebecca was the master seamstress. kristen looked positively
lovely in it on her wedding day, and positively herself.
