| our clay comes in 3000lb. shipments on a tractor trailer | we unload the boxes by hand. everyone helps out | after all the orders have been entered
into the computer, we work from stacks of invoices like these |
we keep a paper tally of everything that needs to be made out of clay | we keep in close contact with every
stage from start to finish and work very hard at keeping communication
clear |
the clay is pulled into clumps that are laid out on our slab rollers | once the clay is rolled though, it comes out as one even slab ready for cutting |
after the shapes are punched out, they are smoothed over- this shape will become one of our scallop casseroles |
here, a bowl is hand molded onto another bowl for support while it dries | rebecca trims the edges of a flat shape | hands trimming a bowl | a loaded kiln of bisque that will be fired overnight |
one of the many shelves stacked with bisque ready to be glazed for an order |
applying yellow glaze to the backside of a bowl | a glaze kiln cools off the next morning | the studio is lined with shelves that are piled with orders in progress | completed orders are then moved to the packing area where they are carefully double-checked | they are then packed with plenty of protection for their journey to our customers |
